I decided to write about this topic even though it does not directly relate to the stuff I wanted to write about. But I was thinking, if people are already here reading reviews about the shoes, they probably had some bad experience with the wrong footwear. And one of the most annoying bad experiences are blisters.
No matter who you are, how old or where you come from – you definitely had a blister at some point in life. They can get pretty nasty while hurting you, especially if they are on your body where it can get a lot of friction. Knowing what to do when you get one is crucial for the blister to not ruin your day. So lets get started!
Drain it
The first step towards making you feel better is to drain that nasty blister. Doctors agree that it cannot cause any problems, and if you don’t drain it yourself, it will pop on its own at some point. The presence of the fluid, unless drained, will cause you a lot of the pain you will suffer.
Take a needle, pour some medicinal alcohol over to make it sterile. Wash your hands and puncture it. Squeeze the liquid out of the blister with your finger tips lightly. After that take a clean band aid and cover it so it doesn’t get dirty or tears itself.
Prevention
Remedies are cool and everything, but it would be a lot nicer to never have them in the first place. Here are some recommendations that I’ve gathered over the years. Some are acquired through experience, while others I’ve heard from friends.
- Wear shoes and socks that fit
- Place a bandage over the area where you think the blister will form
- Wear your socks inside out (the seams won’t rub as hard)
- Apply a jelly-like substance to problem areas (courtesy of American Academy of Dermatology)
And that’s about it. If you have any ideas you would like to share, or simply enjoyed this article, feel free to drop a comment bellow!
